State Government Announces New Scheme: ₹10,000 for the Birth of a Son, ₹12,000 for the Birth of a Daughter

Bhubaneswar,11Th Feb 2025:The state government has decided to implement the Mamata Yojana in coordination with the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana under a co-branding initiative. As part of this, pregnant women giving birth to a daughter will receive an additional ₹2,000 per year. The scheme aims to improve the health of pregnant and postpartum women while encouraging the birth of girl children. This decision was taken by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

Under this scheme:

Mothers giving birth to a son will receive ₹10,000.

Mothers giving birth to a daughter will receive ₹12,000 (previously ₹10,000).

The benefit will be provided for a maximum of two children per family, except for PVTG (Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups), for whom this limit will not apply.

Additionally, Anganwadi workers will now receive an incentive of ₹250 instead of ₹200, while Anganwadi helpers will receive ₹150 instead of ₹50.

For the combined implementation of both schemes, the government has estimated an expenditure of approximately ₹5,110 crore in the upcoming financial year.
