This year, the world-famous Rath Yatra will be held in Puri on June 27. To ensure the smooth and organized execution of this grand festival, the first preparatory meeting was held today at the DGP’s Camp Office in Bhubaneswar, under the chairmanship of State Director General of Police (DGP) Shri Yogesh Bahadur Khurania.
During the meeting, crowd management for the upcoming Rath Yatra and the issues faced in previous years were reviewed. The DGP directed senior police officers to begin extensive preparations well in advance. As per the tradition of Shri Jagannath Temple, various rituals of Lord Jagannath will be observed on specific dates. The Rath Yatra will attract millions of devotees from across the country and abroad, along with the expected arrival of several distinguished personalities to witness the grand festival.
The meeting discussed several key aspects, including:
Installation of CCTV cameras from Uttara Square to Puri.
Efficient traffic management to prevent congestion.
Special measures to avoid issues like unauthorized ticket scalping.
Designated parking spaces for vehicles.
Exclusive helipad arrangements for VIPs.
Separate accommodations for deployed police forces.
Systematic arrangements for chariot pulling.
Strategic barricading for smooth crowd movement.
Coordination with district administration to resolve potential issues quickly.
Dedicated facilities for disciplined darshan of Lord Jagannath by devotees.
The DGP discussed these matters in detail, emphasizing a comprehensive action plan to ensure an incident-free Rath Yatra.
