Berhampur, March 28, 2025 – Acting on a tip-off, a police team from Town Police Station, led by SI Ranajit Kumar Dash, conducted a patrol in the area and busted an illegal drug-selling operation near Mahatma Gandhi Stadium, behind the Fire Station.
During the raid, police found shop owner Manikanta Bose (50) selling ganja and ganja-laced cigarettes illegally from his paan shop cabin. The police seized 330 grams of ganja, 890 grams of ganja-laced cigarettes, and ₹30,950 in cash from his possession.
Bose, who has a criminal history with 15 cases related to the NDPS Act, excise violations, robbery, and other offenses, was arrested and produced before the court today.
Police have launched a further investigation to trace the source of the contraband.
