Berhampur, 31/03/2025: A thought-provoking extramural talk on the topic “Technological Development towards Vikshit Bharat 2047” was organized by Odisha Research Centre (ORC), Bhubaneswar, in collaboration with Berhampur University on 31st March (Monday) at the New Conference Hall, Berhampur University, Bhanja Bihar. The event, exploring the role of technology in shaping India’s future development, was part of Odisha Research Centre’s special lecture series “Odilogues”.
Chairman, PG Council Prof. Sukanta Kumar Tripathy, Presided over the extramural talk and Prof. Chandi Prasad Nanda, Director of Odisha Research Centre, delivered the welcome address and introduced the main speaker. In his remarks, Prof. Nanda provided a synoptic and insightful overview of the Odisha Research Centre’s vision and contributions towards academic discourse and knowledge dissemination. He highlighted the significance of the “Odilogues” series as a platform to foster discussions on contemporary issues, aiming to bridge academic insights with policy perspectives.
The session featured Virendra K. Tewari, former Director of IIT Kharagpur, as the distinguished speaker. In his address, Mr. Tewari highlighted the crucial aspects of technological innovation required to propel India towards the Vikshit Bharat Mission by 2047. He emphasized the need for integrated approaches, from education to infrastructure, to harness technology for sustainable growth and development across various sectors.
The event attracted students, faculty, and researchers, who engaged in a stimulating discussion on how technological advancements can address challenges related to healthcare, education, agriculture, and urbanization. Mr. Tewari also stressed that collaborative efforts between educational institutions, industries, and policymakers would be key to achieving the vision of a developed India. Prof. L. N. Raut, Former Professor of History, Berhampur University, Mr. Yash Sharma and Ms. Sonali Dalai, researchers at Odisha Research Centre were also present at the event. Dr.Sadananda Nayak, Head, Department of History and Coordinator, Extramural Lecture coordinated the programme and Prof. Jugeshwar Panigrahy propsed the vote of thanks.
The event concluded with a lively Q&A session where participants expressed their views and queries about the technological strategies needed for Vikshit Bharat 2047. The session provided valuable insights into the pathways that can lead to India’s technological and socio-economic advancement in the coming decades
