Berhampur, Odisha | June 14, 2025 — In a significant operation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a Senior Social Security Assistant (SSSA) from the EPFO Regional Office in Berhampur, Ganjam district, Odisha, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
The arrest was made following a complaint lodged on June 12, 2025, wherein it was alleged that the official demanded a bribe from a complainant in exchange for approving an Authorized Signatory Application related to a private company on the EPFO portal. After negotiation, the accused reportedly agreed to accept the amount.
Acting promptly, the CBI registered a case and set a trap, catching the official red-handed while receiving the bribe.
Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
