Six Days Workshop on Research Methodology: Tools and Practice (17th to 22nd), organised by Berhampur University

Berhampur,18th Oct 2022: The Berhampur University with funding support from the OHEPPE, Govt. of Odisha, is organizing a six-day workshop between 17th to 22nd October on Research Methodology: Tools and Practices at its campus.The workshop aims to orient research scholars and project fellows, especially toward specific goals of scientific research. More than 100 participants from 20 different P.G. Departments of the university have registered for this six-day workshop. The workshop is divided into two phases to meet the needs of varying disciplines of budding researchers. The first three days, i.e., from 17th – 19th October 2022, will have sessions for the scholars from science stream, whereas, from 20th – 22nd October, the session will be for scholars from social science, humanities and management stream.
The workshop was inaugurated and presided over by Prof. Geetanjali Dash, Vice-Chancellor, Berhampur University. Dr Atanu Kumar Pati, Executive Member, OSHEC graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Prof. Sudhakar Patra, Director, IQAC, Berhampur University and Dr. B. Anjan Kumar Prusty, Coordinator of the workshop were also present in the occasion and addressed the gathering. All the faculty members of the universities also marked their presence in the inaugural function. The chief guest Dr Atanu Kumar Pati, explained the substance value of good research papers for a researcher and an institution collectively for NAAC grading and wished participants all the luck. Vice Chancellor Prof. Geetanjali Dash emphasized doing socially relevant research. Prof. Patra also stressed the importance as well rigor of the research. Dr Prusty stated that the core objective of the workshop was to equip the research scholars with a set of skills and potentiality to undertake the research very effectively in the disciplines of sciences and social science. Dr Prusty proposed the vote of thanks to the chief guests and all the participants.
The workshop commenced after the registration of participants, introductions, and inaugural function. It continued between 10:25 am to 5:15 pm with tea and lunch breaks. The technical sessions of the first day included four sessions and were coordinated by Drs Aditya Kumar Panda and Biswajit Prasad Chhatoi the Deputy Coordinators of the workshop. The first day’s sessions were delivered by Dr Atanu Kumar Pati (OSHEC), Dr Rabindra Panigrahi (DST, GoI), and Dr Bodhisatta Nandy (IISER-Berhampur). In his presentation, Prof. Pati addressed research integrity, improbable research, and plagiarism through the different structural components of writing and publishing. Dr Panigrahi discussed the STI landscape and various research funding opportunities in India. Dr Nandy discussed the conceptual foundation to research design and data analysis – I.
