Cuttack, May 26: The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) on Tuesday declared the results of the Odisha Civil Services (OCS) Examination, 2024. The complete selection list has been made available on the official OPSC website, opsc.gov.in.
The OCS examination is conducted in three stages — Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and Interview. The notification for the OCS Examination, 2024 was issued on December 31, 2024 for recruitment to 200 posts, including 65 reserved for women candidates.
According to OPSC, a total of 85,223 candidates, including 33,630 women, had applied for the examination. Of them, 35,165 candidates, including 13,985 women, appeared in the preliminary examination held on October 12, 2025. Altogether 2,405 candidates, including 781 women, qualified in the preliminary examination.
The written Main Examination was conducted from January 31 to February 10, 2026, in which 2,058 candidates, including 707 women, appeared. Subsequently, 385 candidates, including 155 women, were called for document verification and interview at the OPSC office in Cuttack between May 14 and May 20, 2026.
The Commission has recommended 200 candidates, including 78 women, for appointment to various Odisha Civil Services posts. Bubun Sahu secured the first position in the final merit list.
Among the selected candidates, 70 candidates, including 30 women, belong to the unreserved category; 35 candidates, including 11 women, are from the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC); 45 candidates, including 16 women, are from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category; and 50 candidates, including 21 women, are from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category. The recommended list also includes four ex-servicemen and three physically challenged candidates.
OPSC stated that in previous years the entire recruitment process, from notification to publication of results, generally took around 21 to 22 months. However, this year the process was completed within 17 months.
The Commission said the quicker declaration of results would help synchronize the OCS examination schedule with the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination calendar. In earlier years, overlapping schedules between UPSC and OPSC examinations had created difficulties for aspirants, forcing them to prepare separately for both examinations.
With improved coordination in the examination calendar, candidates from Odisha will now be able to prepare simultaneously for both UPSC and OPSC examinations, reducing academic pressure and improving efficiency in preparation.
