Bhubaneswar, May 30: In a significant action against corruption in the state administration, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has dismissed former Additional Tahsildar of Bhubaneswar, Chittaranjan Pillai, from government service following a departmental inquiry into alleged irregularities in land-related decisions.
Pillai, who was later posted as Deputy Collector in Jagatsinghpur, came under scrutiny for his actions during his tenure as Additional Tahsildar in Bhubaneswar. The allegations primarily pertained to procedural lapses and irregularities in the handling of several land-related cases.
According to official sources, a departmental inquiry conducted by senior government officials found evidence of violations of established procedures in multiple cases. Based on the findings of the inquiry, the state government issued an order dismissing Pillai from service.
The action is being viewed as part of the state government’s ongoing crackdown on corruption. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has repeatedly emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and has maintained that officials found guilty of misconduct would face strict action, irrespective of their position.
The dismissal sends a strong message regarding accountability and transparency in public administration, particularly in matters related to land governance and revenue administration.
