Berhampur, June 12: OMVD Constable Ashutosh Mrudangia, who had sustained severe burn injuries under alleged suspicious circumstances, succumbed while undergoing treatment at the Burn Unit of AIIMS Bhubaneswar on Friday morning.
Mrudangia had suffered nearly 80 per cent burn injuries and was admitted to the hospital on June 6. His condition had deteriorated in recent days, following which he was placed on ventilator support in the ICU.
Before his death, Mrudangia reportedly recorded a statement alleging that his wife and brother-in-law had poured petrol on him and set him ablaze. Based on his statement, police registered a case against the two accused and launched an investigation.
Police said further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing probe.
