Berhampur, 9th july 2022: The Post Graduate Department of Environment Studies, Berhampur University, Bhanja Bihar organized its 1st Extra-mural Lecture under the Distinguished Lecture Series of the department on 08 July, 2022. Prof. Sanjat Kumar Sahu, Chair Professor in Science and Technology, Sambalpur University, Odisha delivered the lecture entitled “Management of Biodegradable Solid Waste through Vermi-Technology”. In this occasion, Dr. B. Anjan Kumar Prusty, Head of the Department welcomed the speaker and briefed the house about the purpose of this lecture series, and Prof. P. K. Mohanty, Chairman, PG Council, Berhampur University addressed the house and felicitated the speaker. This expert lecture was organized to foster greater interest on the issue of solid waste management, especially the biodegradable fractions, familiarize the participants with the tools and techniques of management of solid waste and to provide a forum to exchange views on the available technologies in this field. The expert lecture was attended by the faculties and students of various post graduate departments of the University. The lecture included an intensive deliberation on vermi-technology as an ideal and potential option for management of biodegradable solid waste, and a thorough interaction between the participants and the resource person. The event was a novel opportunity for the researchers and the students to gain new information and explore avenues leading to innovation in the field of vermi-technology and its applications in various fields including environmental clean-up.
