CBI Arrests MCL Chief Manager in Odisha for Accepting ₹20,000 Bribe

Bhubaneswar, July 10:
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the Chief Manager (Mining) of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), Basundhara Area, Sundergarh district, on charges of accepting a bribe of ₹20,000.

According to official sources, the CBI registered a case on July 9, 2025, following a complaint alleging that the accused had demanded a bribe of ₹30,000. The bribe was allegedly sought in exchange for facilitating the release of compensation funds amounting to ₹11.37 lakh, payable to a relative of the complainant for land acquisition.

After negotiations, the accused agreed to accept ₹20,000. Acting promptly, the CBI laid a trap and apprehended the official red-handed while accepting the bribe.

The accused is currently in custody, and further investigation is underway.
