Bhanjanagar, Feb 21: Police of Bhanjanagar Police Station arrested two persons on Saturday evening and seized 51.74 grams of brown sugar near Saluapalli main road under Ganjam district.
Acting on reliable inputs, a police team intercepted a scooter around 6:10 PM and detained two suspects. During a search conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, contraband brown sugar weighing 51.74 grams was recovered from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Om Prakash Swain of Bhejiput and Chandan Mahapatra of Khalikote. Police also seized a scooter (OD 07AX 8031), cash worth ₹2,700, and two mobile phones.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and both accused have been forwarded to court, police said.
