New Delhi, May 5: Senior BJP leader & Union minister for Home Amit Shah has been appointed as the Central Observer for the election of the Legislature Party leader in West Bengal, indicating the party’s direct oversight in the crucial leadership selection process.
In support of the exercise, Mohan Charan Majhi, Chief Minister of Odisha, has been designated as the Central Co-Observer.
The appointments come at a significant juncture as the party moves to formally elect its legislative leader following the recent Assembly election outcome. The Legislature Party meeting is expected to be convened shortly, where newly elected MLAs will choose their leader under the supervision of the appointed observers.
According to party sources, the swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister of West Bengal is scheduled for May 9.
